  Is the Bible Really the inspired word of God?

  i ask this question simply to see what others think....... when my daugther was 16, she came to me late one night after we had come from a meeting and asked me...."mom, what if the witnesses have it all wrong?

  there are only 66 books that we use, what if we are worshipping the wrong idea?

  " she then walked out of the room and went to bed...... god, did that open a can of worms.....because i actually started thinking on that.. however, i took it a step further....what if religion on whole had it all wrong....so i began to do research, and what i found was amazing to me..... 2timothy 3:16 began to 'ring' in my mind....."all scripture is inspired of god...." funny, didn't say just 66 books were inspired, but all scripture....then i began to break it down....what was scripture?

  I have faith that it is. That's what God asks me to do. I believe men have distorted and twisted the scriptures and used the powers of human reasoning and intellectual intimidation to glorify and place themselves in position of authority which in turns leads to a distorted and twisted opinion of God. To me the bible is a very small window into Gods world. He promises someday the big picture will be revealed as I would like to ask many of the same questions often asked on this forum. I try to take what I do understand and apply it to my life and this approach has seemed to work for me. If I'm wrong and there is no God or the bible is just a book of fairy tales then I still feel I've lived my life on solid principles. I guess then the bible is the inspired word of God only if you believe it is.

  does he foresee and foreknow all future actions of all his creatures,spirit and human?.

  or,is god's exercise of foreknowledge selective and discretionary,so that whatever he chooses to foresee and foreknow,he does, but what he does not choose to foresee or foreknow,he does not?.

  SS--- I hear ya! I used to ask my mom what God did in the billions ans billions of years before he created the tangible things he has told us about like angels,stars,planets and so on. I mean what energy is God made up of and how did that energy come about. It gives me a headache thinking about all the possibilities.

  no jw's have been to my door for years because they all know where i live - my mom drives by with her "car group" and points out our house, even stops to use the potty or get a pop.

  silly - i know, but mom doesn't seem to care about the shunning thing (thank goodness).. anyways - hubby and i have bought a new house and will be moving out of this congregation's area soon.

  it's a brand new house in a new area so i'm sure it'll get worked fairly quickly (new blood on the block).

  I suppose God can choose to know or not know for the bible says with him all things are possible but as far as Adam and Eve he already knew they were going to fail and had his plan all worked out. Ephesians 1:4 says"just as He chose us in Him BEFORE the foundation of the world,that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself,according to the good pleasure of His will" and so on. The scripture seems to indicate he knew. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

  What is your job/career? Like it?

  i'm a deskside support guy working for a service company, at one of their contracts.

  i enjoy fixing things, although some of the customers could use a good knock on the skull sometimes.. i make pretty decent money for what i am doing.. for me, it's what i've wanted to do my whole life.

  i had a computer from the time i was born, and love it since then.. what do you guys do to bring home the bacon?.

  I'm a locomotive engineer. 12000 horsepower pulling 18000 tons at 55 mph for the 2nd largest class one railroad in America(BNSF). I work long hours and am on the road quite frequently but the pay is great(100,000G) as well as full retirement through the tier 1 tier 2 taxes and unmatched medical coverage. I wouldn't do anything else. I guess you could say it's in my blood.

  hello everyone.my name is richard and i would like to come back to the truth.i never did get baptized so im not disfellowshiped.my family are still all in the truth,and there lives are so much better than mine.satan has taked over my life completly.and ive had enough.i want to turn my life around and ask jehovah to come back into my heart.i have a very serious drug and alcohol problem.and do not want to live my life like this anymore.i know my life will get better if i let jehovah back in.im just scarred right now.i sill have a little deamon that keeps telling me not to do this.but i really want to.i sure could use some words of encouragement if anyone would like to help i sure would apriciate it.and does anyone know if i can get publcations online...?

  That's right man, were the morons but your the one drinking and doping your life away. Poor me-you can't possibly know what I've been through is so pathetic. I for one and am reasonably sure there are others here who know every bit of your pain.Your not special dude. You've been to what 4 treatment centers. You know the routine and I'm sure you know AA/NA is a good start. I think you couple that with some prayer and white knuckle sobriety and you will have your starting point. I could care less if you go to the kingdom hall or not. That's your choice to make. I don't go for my own reasons but if it works for you then do it. My only hope is that you DO sober up, research your beliefs then do what is in your heart. You will be in my prayers! Yard Dog

  remember the watchtower that asked "are jws a cult?

  " and then listed things that cleared it of the accusations of being such?

  cant remember the date.. anyway one of the things it said was that "cults" usually have a lot of ex members testifying against it and the damage it has caused to their family lives.

  My mom, step-dad,two brothers,one sister, and uncle have all shunned me for the last 18 years. When I left my brothers were 4 and 2 . They were my little buddies back then but now they hardly know who I am. I have a void in my life but I've moved on because I had to. Although I will never understand their stance I've accepted it because it's reality.
